Kicking off the “Missions” series will be a SoCal favorite, “El Presidente”.
Overview:
El Presidente is known by many names (ie, Escort, Assassination, etc) but the basics are all the same, get the VIP to the designated safe zone. This game was one of the most requested type at our local field and always left the players with a smile when it was over, a good indication the game was a winner.
Teams:
- El Presidente: One player armed only with a pistol and one magazine.
- Body Guards: Tasked with escorting El Presidente to the LZ (landing zone) unharmed.
- Assassins: Tasked with eliminating El Presidente, preventing his reaching the LZ.
Team Balancing:
Balancing the number of players on each team is optional. Normally we strive for a even number on both sides, but we have skewed the team for more interesting results.
Rules:
- Should El Presidente get hit, the game over in favor of the Assassins.
- Regen for the Assassin’s is normally all the way back at their main base/starting point or 150′ back regen rules makes movement for the Body Guards near impossible.
- Regen for Body Guards are 150′ back after spending 2 minutes in place as a corpse.
- Grenades and Rockets are not in play as area attacks make taking out El Presidente way too easy.
The Basics:
The Assassins get to start anywhere on the field they like. Their main base should be a good distance away from the LZ to prevent instant spawn/protection of the LZ. We have run into this obstacle in the past, which out right ruined the game. El Presidente must be a player the staff knows as being an upstanding and virtuous player. As a Body Guard, protecting El Presidente and escorting him to the LZ is your ultimate goal… not body count or taking out a group of players… getting El Presidente to the LZ untouched. Many players on both sides forget the mission and just want to get in trigger time (which I can appreciate!). There is no thing wrong with this, but just remember that you are out there with an objective to be completed.
Tips:
- Assassins: Dig in! Use concealment, claymores and shower shells
- Body Guards: Send a small force forward to scout your path, keep El Presidente close, be his human shield.
- El Presidente: Keep low, be alert, stay between your Body Guards, watch your back!
